Villanova Investment Management Company was founded and is led by a seasoned investment team with substantial small cap expertise (average investment experience of 27 years). Applying their conservative principles with a focus on long-term value creation and downside protection, our principals are responsible for investment research, portfolio construction and implementation of all aspects of our investment process.
Rastislav (Rasto) Berlansky, CFA
Before founding VIMCO, Rasto was a Managing Director of Brandywine Global Investment Management and the co-head of its Absolute Value Group, which at its peak managed assets in excess of $1.9 billion. For over ten years, Rasto was the lead portfolio manager of the Small Cap Value product, with assets reaching $1 billion at its peak, having the ultimate responsibility for all final investment and portfolio decisions. He also served as a co-portfolio manager for the Small/Mid Cap Value product. Rasto also was an equity analyst for all Absolute Value Equity portfolios. Before joining Brandywine in 2003, he was an analyst with LLR Partners, Inc., a leading late-stage private equity firm, and senior associate for PricewaterhouseCoopers in its Corporate Valuation Group. Rasto is a CFA charterholder and earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Villanova University, graduating summa cum laude.
Edward A. Trumpbour
Before founding VIMCO, Ed was a member of the Executive Board, a Managing Director and the founder and co-head of the Absolute Value Group at Brandywine Global Investment Management which, at its peak, managed assets in excess of $1.9 billion. After joining Brandywine in 1996, Ed started the institutional small cap value product, of which he was either a lead or a co- portfolio manager until his departure. Ed also served as the lead portfolio manager for the Small/Mid Cap Value product. Previously, he was with Delaware Investment Advisers, as Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager with the firm’s institutional large cap value team. While at Delaware, he also launched and managed the Delaware Value Fund (subsequently renamed Delaware Small Cap Value Fund), investing in small and mid-capitalization equities. Additionally, Ed served as an intern analyst with Gabelli Asset Management. He earned a M.B.A. in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a B.S.B.A. in Finance from Georgetown University.
Daniel R. McFadden
Dan joined VIMCO in 2018 as the Head of Business Development and Client Service. He has deep investment experience and expertise in working with institutional investors of all sizes and markets, with a special focus on investment policy and asset allocation for corporate, public and Taft-Hartley pension plans and nonprofit foundations. Prior to joining VIMCO, Dan was a Senior Client Portfolio Manager within SEI’s Global Institutional Group. Previously, Dan was with Turner Investments where he served as Senior Managing Director of Global Client Service and was responsible for client service efforts for the firm across all markets. Before that, he was with Brandywine Global Investment Management where he was Senior Vice President of Client Service responsible for the relationship management of institutional clients. Dan earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting from Drexel University and his M.B.A. in Finance from Villanova University. Dan is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive), and currently serves as a Trustee and Chairman of the New Castle County (DE) Employees Pension Board. Dan has also passed the General Securities Representative (Series 7) and the Uniform Securities Agent State Law (Series 63) examinations.
